	Since they met on the train to Hogwarts at the age of eleven, Mary and Chase have been best friends. They were both sorted into Gryffindor, which helped keep them close. Chase never laughed at Mary's stupid questions about the wizarding world, and he defended her from those who did. After she was attacked at the end of their fourth year by an older student, Mary tried to withdraw into herself and away from Chase, but he persisted in keeping her close. It didn't take long for her "stupid little crush" to develop into love, but it did take forever for her to act upon it.	Chase: I don't like being yelled at, you know, for caring about you. Or for wanting to help you. It's not my fault, whatever it is, so if you could not take it out on me, I'd appreciate that. Mary: I'm sorry. Chase: I'm sorry for wanting to help you so badly that I punched someone in the face. Now, will you please just come and hug me or something? Or go to Hogsmeade with me? Mary: I'll go to Hogsmeade with you. Chase: Are you my bestie again? Mary: Always. Chase: Brilliant.
